GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Barton men's cross country team finished sixth out of 12 teams at East Carolina University's Pirate Invitational on Friday afternoon at Lake Kristi.
UNC Greensboro won the men's championship thanks to four runners in the top eight being scored while East Carolina took home the women's title.  The Pirates had five out of top eight competitors.
On the men's side, Barton was led by sophomore 
Amando Robles (Wilson, N.C.), who finished 27th overall with a time of 26:56 over the 8K course.  Miles Ally, who ran unattached, won the race after clocking a 24:46.
In the women's competition, the Bulldogs were paced by senior 
Morgan Lane (Elm City, N.C.).  Lane ran the 6K course in 29:12 and finished 78th while N.C. State's Nevada Mareno (Raleigh, N.C.) was the top individual, crossing the finish line in 20:23.
The Barton men's and women's cross country teams next compete in the 2021 Conference Carolinas Championship next Saturday, October 23, in Mount Olive, N.C.
