WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (5-8, 2-6) suffered a 3-1 setback to rival Mount Olive (7-11, 2-6) Wednesday evening in a Conference Carolinas match at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Trojans won by scores of 25-18, 25-17, 22-25 and 25-23 over the Bulldogs.
Mount Olive was led by Amara Eziakonwa (Tampa, Fla.) with 15 kills while Ashlyn Stone (Rougemont, N.C.) added 14 kills and 23 digs in the win. The Trojans also held the Bulldogs to a .123 hitting percentage for the match.
Barton was led by junior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Taylorsville, N.C.) with 17 kills while senior setter
Sarah Kirk (Pearland, Texas) tallied her seventh double-double of the year – 27 assists and 12 digs – in the losing effort.
Barton remains at home to take on Erskine in a league match Friday night beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Mount Olive hosts Lees-McRae on Friday at 7:00 p.m., as well.
