Box Score 2 WILSON, N.C. – The Anderson softball team (8-4) ran its winning streak to five games with a doubleheader sweep of Barton (4-6), 5-0 and 6-3, Sunday afternoon at Jeffries Field.
Game One – Anderson 5, Barton 0
The Trojans scored all their runs in the fourth frame highlighted by two-run hits from Mattison Cantrell (Gray Court, S.C.) and Kayson Boatner (Fortson, Ga.).
Anderson's Kayla Pepper (Anderson, S.C.) (3-2) threw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts while Barton freshman AnnaKate Gilchrist (Clayton, N.C.) (1-3) suffered the loss.
Game Two – Anderson 6, Barton 3
The Trojans broke a one-all tie with a four-run third inning which included the game-winning single from Mattie Hamilton (Perry, Ga.) and a two-run hit from Gracie Williams (Belton, S.C.) and Anderson was able to hold on for the victory.
Barton junior first baseman Jordan Blake (Jackson Springs, N.C.) finished with a pair of doubles and an RBI while freshman second baseman Savannah Branch (Shallotte, N.C.) also drove in a run in the setback. On the mound, Anderson's Sarah Middleton (Peachtree City, Ga.) (3-2) took the win while Barton freshman Emma Liles (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) (1-2) suffered the loss.
Barton hits the road to take on UNC Pembroke on Wednesday in a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Anderson takes on Chowan in a doubleheader in Murfreesboro, N.C., on Monday beginning at Noon.
