Barton ends season with road loss to North Greenville in the league championship quarterfinals

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (5-12) fell to North Greenville (8-8), 20-4, in the Quarterfinals of the 2019 Conference Carolinas Championship Tuesday afternoon at Pepsi Stadium.  The Bulldogs were playing their final regular season contest of the year.

North Greenville, the fourth seed in the league tournament, will take on top-ranked and top seed Limestone (15-0) in the semifinals on Friday at Noon in Mount Olive, N.C.

The Crusaders' Thomas Cecere (Grand Island, N.Y.) scored a match-high six times while Chris Carpenter (Oviedo, Fla.) added three goals and three assists as North Greenville beat Barton for the second time in four days. 

With the score tied at two, North Greenville took control by reeling off the next six goals.  North Greenville held the edge in both shots taken (66-37) and ground balls (35-23) while Braeden Dixon (Simpsonville, S.C.) picked up the victory in goal after making 20 stops.

For fifth-seeded Barton, freshman attacker Mason Chaney (Dunkirk, Md.) tallied a goal and an assist – finishing with a team-leading 49 scores on the season – while sophomore goalkeeper Matt Stocks (Endicott, N.Y.) suffered the loss despite totaling 15 saves on the day.
