Box Score 2 TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Barton softball team (15-24, 4-8) suffered a doubleheader setback to North Greenville (18-17, 9-3), 7-1 and 8-0, Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action at Jan McDonald Field. The Crusaders also ran their winning streak to five games.
Game One – North Greenville 7, Barton 1
The Crusaders' Jaelin Griffin (Belmont, N.C.) improved to 10-8 on the year after throwing a no-hitter while allowing just one unearned run while striking out seven batters.
North Greenville's Jenna Hewes (Simpsonville, S.C.) hit a solo home run while the Crusaders broke the contest open with a four-run fourth inning in the victory.
For Barton, senior Hannah Jones (Huntersville, N.C.) fell to 3-8 after taking the loss while freshman shortstop Mikayla Rose (Beaufort, N.C.) scored the lone run in the fourth frame.
Game Two – North Greenville 8, Barton 0 (six innings)
North Greenville's Callie Richards (Boiling Springs, S.C.) (7-8) threw a three-hit shutout while Claire Gilmore (Summerville, S.C.) hit a solo home run and Brooklyn Stone (Moncks Corner, S.C.) added two runs batted in as the home team complete the sweep. Senior Makayla Meeks (Greenville, S.C.) (3-9) suffered the loss for the Bulldogs.
Barton hopes to bounce back on Friday in a doubleheader against Erskine in a league doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m., while North Greenville hosts Converse in a doubleheader on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
