Montevallo men's lacrosse rallies late to down Barton, 14-12

WILSON, N.C. – The Montevallo men's lacrosse team (2-4) scored six consecutive goals in the decisive fourth quarter in rallying to beat Barton (1-5), 14-12, Friday afternoon at rainy and cold Electric Supply Company Field, the Bulldogs' new synthetic turf field.

Trailing by an 11-8 score three minutes into the final stanza, the Falcons took control by finding the back of the net six straight times including the game-winner from Kordell Primus (Kamloops, British Columbia, CANADA) with 6:26 left in the contest.  The goals came in bunches for the Falcons, who scored four of those in a span of 64 seconds.

Montevallo, which snapped a three-game losing streak, was led by Thomas Vaesen (Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA) with four goals while Jackson Neufeld (Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA) and Connor Frederick (Queenstown, Md.) added three scores each in the victory.

Barton lost despite four goals from both sophomore midfielder Zachary Hodge (Murrieta, Calif.) and freshman attacker Mason Chaney (Dunkirk, Md.).  Hodge added two assists for six total points while sophomore goalkeeper Matt Stocks (Endicott, N.Y.) stopped 17 shots in the losing effort.

Montevallo's goalkeeper, Kyle Little (West Milford, N.J.), earned the win after totaling 13 saves while the Falcons held the edge in both shots taken (47-36) and ground balls (44-34).

Barton remains at home to take on Palm Beach Atlantic on Monday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Montevallo hosts Rockhurst on Friday, March 8, at 6:00 p.m.
