SPARTANBURG, S.C.-The Barton College women's soccer team was held to a season-low nine shots in suffering a 2-0 loss at Conference Carolinas foe Converse College on Saturday evening.
The Lady Bulldogs (1-1-1 Overall, 0-1-0 Conf.) had an eight game undefeated streak come to an end. The Valkyries (2-1 Overall, 1-0 Conf.) has won two straight contests.
Georgia Jones took advantage of two of host's five corner kick opportunities scoring both of the Valkyries tallies on the dangerous specialty pieces. Jones as three goals on the season.
Freshman Lane Brooks led Barton with three of the Lady Bulldogs nine shots. Sophomore Kathryn Smith was the only other Barton player with more than one shot attempt
BC only had two shots on frame – one each by Brooks and Smith – but Joscelyn Wallace made both stops to preserve the clean sheet for the Valkyries.
Senior goalie Carson Moore kept the Lady Bulldogs in the contest with seven saves.
Jones scored her goals in the 44th and 76th minutes.
Barton will try and rebound in its home opener against Salem College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
