DUE WEST, S.C.-Barton College scored three goals for a third consecutive contest in producing a 3-2 Conference Carolinas men's soccer road win at Erskine College on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Alex Blake and seniors Dante De Luca and Jonathan Rembecki scored the Bulldogs goals.
Barton, ranked 10th in the Southeast Region, improved to 9-4 overall and 5-2 in the league.
The Flying Fleet ended the Bulldogs attempt at a fourth straight shutout early when sophomore Cameron Whitehurst turned a BC turnover into a goal in the 13th minute.
Blake the quieted the large Erskine Homecoming crowd at Huggins Field with his equalizer just three and a half minutes later. Blake found the far corner of the back twine after receiving a pass from sophomore Alex David.
The showdown remained deadlocked at 1-up until De Luca scored on a free kick at the 52:56 mark. De Luca scored his sixth goal of the season from just outside the box, ripping a shot over the Fleet wall and into the upper corner.
Rembecki then produced a very important insurance goal in the 67th minute that proved to be the game-winner. De Luca set up the play with a centering pass across the goal to Rembecki, who lasered the ball past the keeper.
De Luca finished with a three-point performance. De Luca has produced at least one point in all four games of the Bulldogs current win streak to move into a tie for the team in points with fellow senior Brazilian Erik Pajunk. They both have six goals and four assists on the campaign for 16 points apiece.
Freshman Jens Madsen Hordvik improved his record in net to 7-2 making two saves over 90 minutes of work.
However, Erskine kept things interesting and freshman Stian Tsesmetsis scored his first collegiate goal in the final minute to close the final deficit to just one goal.
There were no shots attempted in the final 23 seconds after Tsesmetsis netted the late marker.
The Bulldogs finished with a 14-8 shot edge and 12-6 corner kick surplus.
Barton will play its final non-conference game of the season when the Bulldogs entertain Chowan University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
