WILSON, N.C.-Junior forward Taylor Parrish scored 2:16 into the first overtime to break a scoreless tie and lift the Barton College women's soccer team to a 1-0 Conference Carolinas women's soccer victory over North Greenville University on Saturday afternoon during Barton College's Family Weekend.

Sophomore goalkeeper Carson Moore made nine saves in her first shutout of the season as Barton earned its first three points in the league standings improving to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The Crusaders remain winless on the season at 0-6 and 0-3.

North Greenville looked to have the momentum at the end of regulation by outshooting the hosts 7-2 in the second half but Barton's defense was up to the task.

After a couple minutes of back-and-forth play to start the first sudden-victory period, Parrish took advantage of the first good scoring opportunity when freshman Emily Futral poked a lead pass from the center of the pitch past an extend NGU defensive line and goalkeeper. Parrish darted to the ball that was trickling just outside the top of the 18-yard box and was able to direct the ball into the back of the net right before the Crusaders defense recovered.

Parrish's golden goal was her second tally of the season. The Smithfield, N.C., product had numerous scoring chances in regulation and attempted half of the Bulldogs 10 shots.

Futrell's fourth assists of her rookie season moves her into a tie for second place in the league in helpers.

NGU finished play with a 17-10 shot advantage and a 11-3 corner kick surplus. Goalie Taylor Kelley made four saves to keep the Bulldogs off the scoreboard in the first half. Backup Krista Young only needed one save in the second half but took the loss allowing the game-ending tally in the first 10-minute OT.

Futrel ripped two shots on goal while sophomore Nicole Smith and freshman Ashley Batchelor each struck one on frame for the Lady Bulldogs.

Barton will be tested in its next game when the Lady Bulldogs entertain No. 8 NSCAA/Continental Tire Southeast Region ranked UNC Pembroke on Monday at 5 p.m.
