WILSON, N.C.-Junior left-hander Emily Jordan pitched a two-hit gem in the first game and senior center fielder Jessica McFadden ran wild in the second game Saturday as the Barton College fastpitch softball team ran its win streak to a school-best nine games with 9-0 and 15-7 conquests of visiting Shaw University.
McFadden, a slap hitter, batted 5-for-5 with eight stolen bases and five runs scored in the second game. The eight stolen bases broke the all-divisions NCAA record for steals in one game (previous best was seven).
The non-conference sweep at Gillette Park evened the Lady Bulldogs' record at 16-16 overall while Shaw left at 9-26. Barton, which ended the first game in just 4.5 innings and the second game in six innings, entertains Conference Carolinas foe Erskine College at Jeffries Field on Monday at 2 p.m.

Barton scored two runs in the first, five in the second and two more in the fourth inning. Second baseman Stacy Wade, catcher Rebekah Morgan, first baseman Kendall Street and right fielder Elizabeth Webb each rapped two hits for the Lady Bulldogs, who notched 10 total hits. She had a no-hitter through three innings, but was chased in the fourth, when she gave up four runs, including a three-run homer to center by catcher Chelsea Holliday. Webb pitched two innings of hitless ball to finish the game. Barton also got two hits from Street and Morgan.
