WILSON, N.C.-Freshman Amber Brush (Princeton, N.C.) amassed a six-point performance including her first two collegiate goals to lead the Barton College women's soccer team to a 5-0 non-conference victory over Chowan University Thursday night at the Barton Outdoor Athletic Complex.

The Lady Bulldogs scored five goals for the second time this season to end a six game skid and improve to 3-8 overall. The Hawks lost for the fourth consecutive time dipping to 1-8 on the year.

"We got five goals which was important for us," Barton head coach Ike Onyeador said. "We still have some things to work on but hopefully we can take the good things out of this match and build on them."

Brush scored her first two collegiate goals in a two minute and 14 second span and had several other chances to net a hat trick with six total shots including a game-high four on frame.

Junior Taylor Parrish (Smithfield, N.C.) followed Brush with five points including bookend goals and one assist. Parrish, who has scored six goals in the Bulldogs last four games, leads the Royal Blue and White with nine goals, three assists and 21 points.

Defensively, freshman goalkeeper Carson Moore (Greenville, N.C.) only needed to make one save for her second career shutout.

Parrish started the Lady Bulldogs scoring outburst just 4:10 into play with an accurate one-timer on a crossing pass from Brush on the left flank. Brush increased the hosts lead to 3-0 before halftime with her goals in the 13th and 16th minutes. On the first tally Parrish nearly scored with a shot off the right post, before the rebound went directly to Brush at the Hawks doorstep and she confidently finished off the play. The second score came off a junior Erin Haddon (Cary, N.C.) corner kick to freshman Breanna Briggs (Hubert, N.C.), who then found Brush inside the box for the strike.

After the midway break, Briggs netted Barton's next goal in the 67th minute with a long range laser that went off the diving Hawks goalkeeper and into the far twine for her fourth goal of the year.  Parrish finished off the Lady Bulldogs scoring in the 89th minute on a breakaway that was set up by Brush.

The Bulldogs dominated play with a 25-2 shot cushion and a 13-1 corner kick advantage.

Barton returns to Conference Carolinas competition on Saturday when the Lady Bulldogs hosts Erskine College at 5 p.m.
