Ginna Lewis, MS, LAT, ATC, CSCS, joined the Barton College Athletic Training staff in June of 2017 as Head Athletic Trainer was elevated to Associate Athletic Director and Director of Sports Medicine in the summer of 2025. Lewis' coverage sports include Women's Soccer and Men's Lacrosse and Men's and Women's Bowling for the Bulldogs.
Lewis spent five years at Methodist University before coming to Wilson as one of the Monarchs full-time athletic trainers, primarily responsible for the football and men's lacrosse teams. Lewis also serves as an approved instructor for the athletic training education program.
While at Methodist, she worked with the 2013 USA South Conference Football Co-champions and the 2017 SEILC (South Eastern Independent Lacrosse Conference) Men's Lacrosse Regular Season and Conference Tournament Champions.
Lewis received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from James Madison University in 2010 before earning her Master of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology with a Concentration in Athletic Training and a Residency in Teaching from the University of Florida in 2012.
As a part of her education at the University of Florida, Lewis completed her certification to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. During her time at the Gainesville, Fla., school, Lewis worked for the Department of Recreation as a graduate assistant for their competitive sports program, providing coverage for intramural sports and sport clubs. Through this position, Lewis gained experience with exposure to a variety of sports of both genders and diverse risk and skill levels. Some of the notable sports included men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s ice hockey, and men’s and women’s rugby, among others.
Lewis also was invited to travel with the Gator men’s rugby team to the USA 7’s Collegiate Rugby Championship Invitational Tournament in June 2012 in Philadelphia, Pa., where the Gators won the challenger cup.
Lewis is a native of Waynesboro, Va., and currently resides in Wilson, N.C., with her husband Drew, and dogs, Lola and Bailey.
