Mark-Anthony Pounds is currently in his ninth year and second stint as an Assistant Coach for the Barton Men’s Basketball Team starting with the 2018-19 season after a two-year stint in 2007-08 and 2008-09. Pounds also served coaching stints at North Carolina Central University and Carver Bible College. Mark-Anthony is also an Assistant in Barton College's Department of People and Support.

Pounds also coaching several seasons at Riverside High School in Durham, N.C., and was the Head Coach for the Carolina Crossovers Elite AAU Program.

Pounds, a native of Boston, Mass., played two seasons at Barton College before finishing his career at Piedmont Baptist College.  At PBC, Pounds averaged 16.0 points, 5.3 assists, four bounds and two steals and ranked fifth in the nation in field goal percentage.  Pounds also played prep basketball at Northern High School (two years) and Riverside High School – both of Durham, N.C. – for one season.

Pounds played semi-professional basketball for the Harlem Majestic Travel Team and the Capital City Ballers of the USBL and was part of the NC Pro-Am 2010 Team Navy Championship squad at North Carolina Central University.

Pounds is a Graduate of North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree. Pounds also served in the United States Navy Reserves for four years and has three children: Christian, Madison and Kennedy.
