Marcus Hilliard is entering his first year as Associate Head Coach and Defensive Line Coach for Barton College in 2025.
Hired in the spring of 2025, Hilliard comes to the Wilson, N.C., school after spending the past three seasons as Head Coach at Elizabeth City State University (2022-24). Â Hilliard brings a wealth of knowledge to the Bulldogs' program.
Prior to ECSU, Hilliard spent three years as Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Line Coach at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Va.  During his tenure with the Panthers, Hilliard was also the pro-scout liaison and assisted with the football budget and scholarships.  In 2018, Hilliard was named the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Assistant Coach of the Year.
Hilliard also had a first go-around with Elizabeth City State, serving for 14 years as a player, graduate assistant, position coach and defensive coordinator and produced a combined 25 All-CIAA and NCAA Division II All-American performers.
Hilliard is a native of Goldsboro, N.C., and holds a bachelor's degree in history and earned his Masters in Sport Management and Administration from the United States Sports Academy in 2007.
