Charlie Mauzé began coaching at Barton in August of 2019, working in football operations. Prior to the 2020 campaign, Mauzé became responsible for the special teams (placekickers, punters and long snappers).
Mauzé graduated the from Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor of science in industrial management.
Mauzé signed his grant-in-aid with legendary Georgia Tech Coach Bobby Dodd where he played tight end and split end. Injuries sidelined after two years and served as a student assistant for Bud Carson in operations, scouting and recruiting before graduating.
Mauzé received an MBA from the University of North Carolina before working as Vice President of NCNB bank (now Bank of America) in Raleigh, N.C., Charlotte, N.C., and Wilson, N.C.
Mauzé is currently a retired part-owner of Sarreid, Ltd., a home furnishings company located in Wilson, N.C.
Mauzé is a native of Lexington, N.C., where he was an all-state athlete and a Shrine Bowl participant. Mauzé and his wife, Melanie, have two sons: Bennett and Charlie, III (an Air Force pilot) and two grandchildren.
