Nick Eversole is entering his third season as an Assistant Baseball Coach for Barton College in 2025 and was recently elevated to Associate Head Coach.
Previously, Eversole spent the last seven years at Bellarmine University, a private institution located in Louisville, Kentucky. His first five years there were marked with many program-firsts and great accomplishments as a member of NCAA Division II in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).
After the 2020 season, Bellarmine began its transition to Division I and joined the ASUN conference. Prior to Bellarmine, Eversole played collegiately at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania (a member of NCAA Division II and PSAC) from 2010 to 2013 and coached there during the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
“Nick (Eversole) is a true baseball man and will make an immediate impact in all areas of our baseball program," said Barton Head Coach Keith Gorman. "Nick possesses the intelligence, experience and natural ”IT” factor to effectively lead and develop the young men in our program. His efficiency and organizational skills are some of the best I have seen. We are very proud to have Nick in this great program and to be able to coach alongside him.”
In 2022, the Bellarmine Knights finished fifth out of six teams in the ASUN West division. Senior outfielder Matt Higgins won ASUN Player-of-the-Year accolades, hitting .366 with 22 home runs, 20 doubles, and 15 stolen bases. He was also an NCAA Division I Second-Team All-American and signed a free agent deal with the San Francisco Giants after the draft.
The 2021 season marked Bellarmine's first in NCAA Division I and the ASUN Conference. The Knights made the ASUN tournament and earned three all-conference awards. Bellarmine catchers threw out over 39 percent of potential base stealers during conference play, leading the ASUN in that category. Following the year, senior righthander Deylen Miley signed a free agent deal with the Houston Astros.
The 2020 season marked Bellarmine's final year in NCAA Division II and it was canceled in the early going due to the coronavirus. Ranked No. 17 in the preseason by the NCBWA, the Knights were 10-4 overall and 3-0 in the GLVC after sweeping perennial conference power Quincy when the remainder of the season was called off. Junior right-hander Brandon Pfaadt became the second-highest MLB draft selection in program history after being picked in the 5th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In 2019, Eversole helped lead Bellarmine to a GLVC Tournament title and a program-record third straight appearance in the NCAA D-II Tournament. The Knights also set new program records by winning at least 34 games for the third consecutive season and boasting four All-Americans in Zac Wiley, Matt Higgins, Chris Gambert and Alex Phillips. Wiley was named GLVC Player of the Year and selected as the Midwest Region Player of the Year by both the Division II Conference Commissioners Association and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Bellarmine finished 34-21 overall and led the GLVC in a slew of offensive categories including batting average (.322) and home runs (77).
The 2018 campaign was a historic one. Bellarmine won a program-record 38 games, tying and breaking the record on the same day at the GLVC Tournament. The Knights received their second straight at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament and earned the No. 2 in the NCAA Midwest Regional. In the regionals, the Knights recorded a 6-1 victory over No. 16 Northwood. During the regular season, Bellarmine rose to No. 17 in the national rankings. The Knights finished second in the GLVC East with a 16-8 conference mark and had a program-record nine All-GLVC selections while Eddie Mathis was named GLVC Pitcher of the Year.
In 2017, Eversole helped guide Bellarmine to its first berth in the NCAA D-II Tournament since 2013. The Knights received their first at-large bid into the Big Dance since 2008. Bellarmine's 34 wins were only two shy of the program record. The Knights finished second in the GLVC East with a 20-8 record and secured a third bid in a row in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
In 2016 - Eversole's first season with the Knights - Bellarmine earned its second straight trip to the GLVC Tournament. The Knights finished 15-11 in league play and captured third place in the GLVC East. In the conference tournament, Bellarmine defeated No. 18 Quincy in the opening round. Hunter Spencer was named GLVC Pitcher of the Year and another pitcher, Michael Messier, was drafted by the Royals in the 15th round of the 2016 draft.
Eversole came to Bellarmine after a two-year stint coaching at his alma mater, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. In Bloomsburg, Eversole worked with the outfielders and catchers while assisting with hitting and recruiting. In 2014, the Huskies won 28 games en route to another postseason berth. Two Bloomsburg players that Eversole coached would be drafted as the Padres took Tyler Benson in 31st round of the 2017 draft and the Giants selected Austin Edgette in the 33rd round of the 2018 draft. Following his time at Bloomsburg, Eversole moved to Colorado in the summer of 2015 and was the head coach for the Summit County Black Diamonds of the Mountain West Collegiate League.
A three-year starter at catcher and first base for Bloomsburg from 2010-13, Eversole was named All-Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference (PSAC) in 2011 and team MVP in 2013. For his career, Eversole amassed over 100 hits and, as a catcher, threw out over 25 percent of potential base stealers. He was named PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the week in his final week as a college player after hitting .417 with two home runs to finish out his career.
Eversole received his bachelor’s degree in business from Bloomsburg. He is a native of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, and a 2009 graduate of Indian Valley High School.
