Austin Parent is entering his first season as an Assistant Baseball Coach at Barton College in 2023.
Prior to coming to Barton College, Parent served as an assistant coach at Pratt Community College for their 2022 fall season where he served as the catching and infield coach while assisting with the offense.
Starting his coaching career at his alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford, Parent was in charge of the catchers and assisting with the offense, but had the season cut short due to COVID.
Following his time in Bradford, Parent moved further south to Clarion University where he was a volunteer assistant coach in charge of catchers and assisting with hitters.
Parent was the starting catcher for the Pitt-Bradford baseball team for his four years on campus, amassing a career batting average of .384 and throwing out 40 percent of runners attempting to steal. In 2018, Parent was named a Division III All-American after hitting .496 which led all NCAA divisions that year. Following his senior year, Parent played one season in independent baseball before rejoining Pitt-Bradford as an assistant coach.
Coach Gorman had this to say about Austin joining the Bulldog coaching staff: "Austin will be a tremendous addition to the Barton Baseball coaching staff. His success as a player and his desire to grow the game through player development will be of great value to our team."
