WILSON, N.C. - The Barton men's soccer team (1-5-1, 0-3-1) came up just short to Emmanuel (4-2-1, 4-0), 2-1, in a Conference Carolinas match at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.

Emmanuel received goals from Enzo Joly (Hinges, FRANCE) and John Ruetschle (Dayton, Ohio) in the 26th and 74th minutes, respectively, as the Lions remained unbeaten in league play.

Barton cut the lead with a goal from senior midfielder Charlie Mumford (Basingstoke, ENGLAND) on a penalty kick at the 83:40 mark but Emmanuel was able to hold on from there.

In goal for the Lions, Edouard Laberge (Blainville, Quebec, CANADA) made a pair of stops while earning the victory.

Barton held a 19-15 edge in shots taken despite the loss while junior goalkeeper Devin Agostinelli (Apex, N.C.) suffered the loss despite four saves.

Barton hits the road to face Francis Marion in a league contest on Wednesday, September 23, starting at 7:00 p.m.

Emmanuel, meanwhile, takes on Young Harris, on Wednesday in Young Harris, Ga., in a conference affair at 6:30 p.m.
