CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Barton's
Shelby Herbert won the University of Charleston Women's Invitational at the Edgewood Country Club to open the Fall 2026 season for the Bulldogs.
Herbert, a junior from Charlotte Hall, Md., fired a one-over 143 after 36 holes of competition and was co-medalist along with Charleston's Julia Cebula (Pila Koscielecka, POLAND). Tuesday's third and final round was called due to rain.
Barton senior
Terra Schmitt (Wake Forest, N.C.) took third overall after carding a 144 (+2) over two rounds of play.
As a team, the Bulldogs totaled a 626 (+58) on the par-71, 5,789-yard course while Charleston, the host institution, took home team honors with a 30-over 598.
Barton returns the links on Monday, September 28, and Tuesday, September 29, at the King Invitational in Bristol, Tenn., at the Golf Club of Bristol.
