SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Barton men's soccer team (1-1) battled through a two-hour lightning delay to beat Eckerd (1-1), 1-0, Sunday at Johnson Field.

The Bulldogs received the lone goal of the match courtesy of senior forward Blake Grove (Newstead, AUSTALIA) at the 33:07 mark of the first half. 

Senior forward Akos Tajtyi (Castellon, SPAIN) was credited with the assist for the Bulldogs, who also held a 9-6 advantage in shots taken.

In goal for Barton, junior goalkeeper Devin Agostinelli (Apex, N.C.) earned the shutout win after making a pair of stops while Eckerd goalkeeper Trent Murphy (Marietta, Ga.) suffered the loss.

Murphy allowed just one goal while making five stops despite the setback.

The Bulldogs next hosts Meredith in an exhibition on Tuesday starting at 7:00 p.m., before hosting Shaw on Wednesday, September 2, at 6:00 p.m., at the Complex 

Meanwhile, Eckerd travels to Clinton, Miss., to take on Mississippi Christian on Friday, September 4, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
