LAKELAND, Fla. – The Barton men's soccer team (0-1) fell to Florida Southern (1-0) Friday evening in the 2026 season opener at Berend Field.

The Mocs' Tim Baierlein (Amberg, GERMANY) and Darcy Moffat (London, ENGLAND) both scored twice to lead the home team to the victory.

Florida Southern held a 16-9 advantage in shots taken while Ricardo Marques (Lisbon, PORTUGAL) earned the shutout victory in goal for the Mocs after stopping five shots on the evening.

Barton graduate student goalkeeper Alejandro Sepulveda (Cali, COLOMBIA) made four stops but suffered the loss.

Barton travels to St. Petersburg, Fla., to take on Eckerd on Sunday afternoon beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, Florida Southern hosts Middle Georgia State on Sunday afternoon starting at 1:00 p.m.
