WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (8-7) defeated rival Mount Olive (5-8), 16-12, in the Quarterfinal Round of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Championship Tuesday night at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
The Bulldogs, the fourth seed in the conference championship, will now advance to the semifinals to take on top-seeded Belmont Abbey (12-3) on Friday, April 24, at 4:00 p.m., in Young Harris, Ga.
A trio of Bulldogs scored three goals – sophomore midfielder
Sawyer King (Wake Forest, N.C.) and sophomore midfielders
Marvin Johnson (Houston, Texas) and
Garvin Johnson (Houston, Texas) – as Barton jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter and held off a few Mount Olive rallies to take the win.
Mount Olive, which lost to Barton for the second time this year, was paced by Joshua Dewart (Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA) was a game-high four goals in the losing effort.
The Trojans held advantages in both shots taken (50-33) and ground balls (42-35) but Bulldog graduate student goalkeeper
Luke Woollard (Kent, ENGLAND) earned the win after making 17 saves on the night.
Mount Olive's Kurtis Lensing (Wake Forest, N.C.) suffered the loss in goal despite five saves in the contest.
