WILSON, N.C. – The Barton softball team (12-14, 3-5) suffered a Conference Carolinas doubleheader setback to UNC Pembroke (20-8, 7-1), 5-4 and 12-2, Saturday afternoon at Jeffries Field.
Game One – UNC Pembroke 5, Barton 4
The Braves' Chloe Locklear (Pembroke, N.C.) hit the game-winning two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to help UNC Pembroke pull out the victory in the first contest.
UNC Pembroke's Maddie Gerovac (Creedmoor, N.C.) added a solo home run and drove in two runs while Summer Bullard (Pembroke, N.C.) (11-4) garnered the victory after going the distance and not allowing an earned run.

Madison Mercer (Wilson, N.C.) drove in a pair of runs while freshman
Haley Inman (Stokesdale, N.C.) (5-6) suffered the loss.
Game Two – UNC Pembroke 12, Barton 2 (five innings)
Locklear drove in three more runs while UNC Pembroke used a seven-run fourth inning to break the contest open and run-rule the Bulldogs.
The Braves' Halona Sampson (Lumberton, N.C.) improved to 7-3 on the season after being credited with the win in going the distance.
Barton sophomore designated player
Ronnetta Gurley (Cove City, N.C.) hit a two-run home run in her first game this season but sophomore
Emily Bobo (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) (6-7) suffered the loss.
Barton hits the road to face rival Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C., in a league doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon starting at 2:00 p.m. UNC Pembroke, meanwhile, travels to Ferrum, Va., to take on Ferrum in a conference doubleheader on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., as well.
