MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton softball team (12-16, 3-7) fell in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader to Mount Olive (15-15, 7-5) by scores of 6-1 and 6-5 Wednesday afternoon at Nancy Chapman Cassell Field.
Game One – Mount Olive 6, Barton 1
The Trojans' Emily Saw (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) opened the scoring with a solo home run in the third frame while Emma Myatt (Tazewell, Tenn.) (6-5) earned the complete game victory after allowing just one run in addition to five strikeouts.
Three Bulldogs errors led to three unearned Trojan runs while freshman
Haley Inman (Stokesdale, N.C.) suffered the loss and fell to 5-7 on the year. Barton senior outfielder
Alexis Bicondova (Ephrata, Wash.) had an RBI double in the losing effort.
Game Two – Mount Olive 6, Barton 5 (eight innings)
The Trojans' Samantha Taylor (Winterville, N.C.) hit the walk-off, run-scoring single with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning as Mount Olive completed the sweep.
UMO's Emma King (Dillon, S.C.) hit a solo home run in addition to three runs scored, a pair of hits and two runs batted in to lead the home team offensively.

MacKenzie Taylor (Mebane, N.C.) hit a two-run triple for the visitors but Bulldogs' sophomore
Emily Bobo (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) (6-8) took the loss.
For Mount Olive, Alex Steen (Cheraw, S.C.) improved to 8-5 on the season after going the distance and striking out six batters.
Barton remains on the road to take on Emmanuel in a league doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m., in Franklin Springs, Ga. Mount Olive, meanwhile, travels to Central, S.C., to take on Southern Wesleyan on Friday in a conference doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m.
