FERRUM, Va. – The Barton baseball team (4-17, 2-13) suffered a doubleheader setback to Ferrum (10-12, 5-10), 12-3 and 9-8 in 10 innings, Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action at Panther Field.
Game One – Ferrum 12, Barton 3
The Panthers' Hunter Carlson (Lynchburg, Va.) hit a three-run home run in the sixth frame and Ferrum used a seven-run third inning to break the contest open in the victory.
Carlson drove in a game-high four runs while Jai Penn (Stuart, Va.) (1-2) earned his first victory of the season for the Panthers.

Isaiah White (Chicago, Ill.) finished with two hits and three runs batted in to lead the visitors. Barton senior
Layton Dupree (Tarboro, N.C.) (0-2) took the loss.
Game Two – Ferrum 9, Barton 8 (10 innings)
The Panthers' Matthew Graham (Warrenton, Va.) came through with the game-winning, run-scoring single with one out in the bottom of the tenth inning to walk it off for the Panthers in completing the sweep.
Graham finished with three hits and four runs batted in to lead Ferrum while Drew Fisher (Collinsville, Va.) (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win.
The Bulldogs scored twice in the top of the ninth inning to force extra frames.
For Barton, sophomore outfielder
Vincent Santostefano (Chapin, S.C.) hit a solo home run and totaled three hits and three runs batted in despite the loss. Sophomore
Braeden Rodgers (Advance, N.C.) (2-3) took the loss for the Bulldogs.
Barton hosts Chowan in a conference contest on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., at Nixon Field while Ferrum hosts Shorter Friday beginning at 3:00 p.m., as well.
