GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Barton softball team (6-4) split a road doubleheader with Tusculum Saturday at Red Edmonds Field. The Bulldogs run-ruled the Pioneers, 8-0, in the first contest while the Barton rallied to salvage the split with a victory in the nightcap, 8-1.
Game One – Tusculum 8, Barton 0 (five innings)
Tusculum had a trio of two-run home runs courtesy of Ellie Alvarez (Plano, Ill.), Ava Hallows (Waynesville, Ohio) and Muriel Dillow (Abingdon, Va.) in the shutout victory.
Tusculum's Chelsey Stonesifer (Littlestown, Pa.) pitched a two-hit shutout to go along with nine strikeouts while sophomore
Emily Bobo (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) (2-3) suffered the loss for Barton.
Game Two – Barton 8, Tusculum 1

Haley Inman (Stokesdale, N.C.) improved to 3-1 on the season after allowing one unearned run in a complete game victory while junior catcher Oliva Darrow (Remington, Va.) hit a two-run home run to lead the Bulldogs to the win.
Inman scattered seven hits while striking out a pair of batters and the Bulldogs used a five-run fourth frame to break the contest open. Senior second baseman
Madison Mercer (Wilson, N.C.) finished with three hits and two RBI for Barton as well.
Tusculum's Catherine O'Donohue (Pinckney, Mich.) (0-1) was tagged with the loss.
Barton remains on the road to take on Carson-Newman in a doubleheader on Sunday in Jefferson City, Tenn., starting at Noon. Tusculum hosts Lees-McRae in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon starting at 1:00 p.m.
