WINGATE, N.C. – The Barton softball team (2-2) suffered a doubleheader setback to Wingate (4-2) Wednesday afternoon on the road at the Bulldogs Complex. The home won over visitors by sores of 5-4 and 4-3.
Game One – Wingate 5, Barton 4
Wingate's Carrie Ellen Bryan (Broadway, N.C.) broke a three-all tie in the fifth frame with the game-winning single as the home team rallied from a three-run first inning deficit to take the win.

Olivia Darrow (La Plata, Md.) had a bases-clearing double in the first inning despite the loss.
On the mound, Wingate's Jillian Thomas (Wingate, N.C.) (2-1) earned the complete game victory after striking out five batters. Barton sophomore
Emily Bobo (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) (0-1) was tagged with the loss despite going the distance as well.
Game Two – Wingate 4, Barton 3
Wingate's Kenda Murray (Fort Mill, S.C.) came through with the game-winning, two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning as the home team rallied from a 3-1 deficit to complete the sweep.

Alexis Bicondova (Ephrata, Wash.) drove in a pair of runs but freshman
Haley Inman (Stokesdale, N.C.) (0-1) took the loss.
Wingate's Lily Huneycutt (Stanfield, N.C.) (2-1) was credited with the win. Both pitchers threw a complete game.
Barton returns to Jeffries Field to host Fairmont State (9:30 a.m.) and West Chester (2:30 p.m.) on Friday in the Bulldog Round Robin Classic. Wingate, meanwhile, hosts Molloy in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon beginning at Noon.
