Barton competes in the first-ever Conference Carolinas Women's Triathlon Championship

WINGATE, N.C. - The Barton women's triathlon competed in the first-ever Conference Carolinas Championship which took place on the campus of Wingate University on Sunday morning.

Wingate, the hosts institution, took home team honors while Barton placed sixth overall.

Wingate's Vanda Krížková (Starý Jicín, CZECH REPUBLIC) was the individual conference champion after finishing the final heat in 24:17.7.  Barton was led by freshman Laia Fernandez Matas (Barcelona, SPAIN), who took 21st overall with a time of 26:59.8 to earn all-league third team accolades.

The Bulldogs will next compete at the East Regional Championships on Saturday, October 17, at Lake Lanier in Buford, Ga.
