Barton football suffers loss to North Greenville Saturday afternoon on Homecoming

WILSON, N.C. - The Barton football team (1-7, 0-4) fell to North Greenville (7-1, 4-1) by a 33-7 score Saturday afternoon on Homecoming in a Conference Carolinas game at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.

The Trailblazers' Kam Montgomery (Houston, Texas) passed for 258 yards and two touchdowns as North Greenville scored the game's first 20 points on its way to the victory.  With the win, the Trailblazers sit at the top of the conference standings with UNC Pembroke.

Montgomery hit Jonathan Manley (Waxhaw, N.C.) for a 63-yard touchdown pass on the team's first possession while running back Jackson Parrish (Graham, N.C.), a Barton transfer, added an 11-yard touchdown run in the second quarter in the triumph.

North Greenville finished with 430 yards of total offense and its defense picked off a pair of passes while holding Barton to 239 yards in the win.

For the Bulldogs, sophomore wide receiver Josiah Artis (Wilson, N.C.) caught a 28-yard touchdown pass and sophomore running back Jayden Brown (Greensboro, N.C.) rushed for a game-high 137 yards in the losing effort.

Barton also scored an offensive touchdown for the first time in five games, dating back to Saturday, September 12, versus Bluefield State.

For the first time in six weeks, the Bulldogs play on the road and will travel to Rome, Ga., to take on Shorter next Saturday, October 31, beginning at Noon in a league affair.

North Greenville hosts conference-foe Erskine next Saturday at Noon as well.
