WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (12-8, 8-4) downed Ferrum (6-15, 4-9), 65-48, Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at Wilson Gymnasium.
Barton sophomore guard
Layne Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) led all scorers with 19 points including 12 points in the first quarter as the Bulldogs raced to a 33-15 halftime advantage and never looked back as Barton completed the season sweep of Ferrum.
Sleight also hit three of the home team's seven treys on the night.
Barton sophomore forward
MaKayla Noble (Salisbury, N.C.) added a double-double – 10 points and 11 rebounds – as the Bulldogs forced the Panthers into 25 turnovers in the victory.
Ferrum was led by Dezariyah Clark (Fayetteville, N.C.), who came off the bench to score a team-high 11 points but was the lone player to reach double figures for the Panthers.
Barton remains at home to take on Shorter in a league contest Monday evening at 5:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Ferrum travels to Bristol, Tenn., to take on King on Wednesday, February 4, starting at 5:30 p.m.
