YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Barton women's basketball team (7-5, 3-1) saw its five-game winning streak come to an end with a 59-52 setback to Young Harris (9-4, 3-2) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at The Harp Recreation & Commencement Center.
The Mountain Lions' Kamryn Bates (Marietta, Ga.) led all scorers with 24 points including four treys while Chassidy Fedd (Douglasville, Ga.) tallied a double-double – 14 points and 11 rebounds – as the home team won their third consecutive contest.
Barton sophomore forward
MaKayla Noble (Salisbury, N.C.) scored 10 points off the bench but was the lone player to reach double figures for the visitors.
The Bulldogs, however, finished just 31 percent (19-of-62) from the field including 19 percent (five-of-26) from behind the three-point line.
Young Harris held a 42-36 advantage in rebounding and hit seven three-pointers in the triumph.
Barton remains on the road to take on Ferrum on Wednesday, January 7, at 5:00 p.m., in a league contest in Ferrum, Va. Young Harris, meanwhile, travels to Due West, S.C., to face Erskine in a conference game on Wednesday starting at 2:00 p.m.
