FERRUM, Va. – The Barton women's basketball team (8-5, 4-1) picked up a 54-49 road Conference Carolinas win over Ferrum (5-10, 3-3) Wednesday evening at Swartz Gymnasium.
Barton sophomore guard
Layne Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) led all scorers with 18 points and hit four treys while sophomore forward
MaKayla Noble (Salisbury, N.C.) added 10 points off the bench in the victory.
Sleight also totaled 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Ferrum's Sofia Ponce (Panama City, PANAMA) led the Panthers with 19 points and 13 rebounds but the home team hit just three-of-22 attempts (14 percent) from behind the three-point line in the setback.
Barton also remained tied with Francis Marion at the top of the East Division standings.
Barton returns home to take on Lees-McRae on Saturday afternoon in a conference contest at Wilson Gymnasium beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Ferrum, meanwhile, travels to Franklin Springs, Ga., to take on Emmanuel on Saturday starting at 2:00 p.m., as well.
