DUE WEST, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (11-7, 7-3) won its third straight contest with a 76-52 win over Erskine (1-15, 0-10) Friday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at Belk Arena.
Barton senior guard
Lauren Mingo (Clinton, Md.) led all scorers with 15 points to go along with nine rebounds, four assists and four steals and was one of three players to score in double figures for the visitors.
Barton sophomore guard
Leah Hampton (Virginia Beach, Va.) added 14 points as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 33-20 lead at intermission and never looked back in the victory.
The Bulldogs held a decisive 65-41 edge on the boards and forced the Flying Fleet into 28 turnovers in the triumph. Erskine was led by Albany Wilson (Florence, S.C.) with a team-high 18 points despite the setback.
Barton returns home to take on UNC Pembroke in a key league contest on Wednesday, January 28, at 5:00 p.m., inside Wilson Gymnasium.
Meanwhile, Erskine travels to Franklin Springs, Ga., to take on Emmanuel in conference action Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
