WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (8-7, 4-3) suffered a 67-42 loss to Francis Marion (8-7, 5-2) Tuesday evening in a Conference Carolinas game at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Patriots' Kiara Croskey (Sumter, S.C.) led all scorers with 22 points while Uriah Jennings (Mayfield Heights, Ohio) added 12 points as Francis Marion forced Barton into 25 turnovers in the victory.
Terriana Gray (Columbia, S.C.) added a double-double – 10 points and 10 rebounds – as the Patriots outscored the Bulldogs by a 21-7 score in the third period to break the contest open.
Barton, losers of two straight contests, was led by sophomore guard
Celeste Bailey (Virginia Beach, Va.) with 13 points but was the lone player to score in double figures for the home team.
Barton was also limited to 33 percent shooting (15-of-45) for the contest in the setback.
Barton hits the road to take on Converse this Saturday, January 17, at 2:00 p.m., in Spartanburg, S.C. Meanwhile, Francis Marion travels to Franklin Springs, Ga., to face Emmanuel on Saturday starting at 2:00 p.m., as well.
