AIKEN, S.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (1-2-1) fell to USC Aiken (1-1-1), 3-0, Saturday afternoon in a non-league regional affair at the Pacer Pit.
The Pacers, who notched their first win of the year, opened the scoring just 3:27 into the match when Lucas Gomes (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) finished off free kick by Rafael Kawata (Taubate, BRAZIL), who was credited with the assist.
Katawa scored just 21 seconds after halftime for a two-goal advantage before Ethan Duncan (South Jordan, Utah) rounded out the scoring in the 86th minute.
USC Aiken held a 13-11 advantage in shots taken while Sean Simoncelli (Ruimsig, SOUTH AFRICA) earned the shutout in goal after stopping four shots.

Devin Agostinelli (Apex, N.C.) suffered the loss despite four saves. The Bulldogs were also held without a goal for the second straight match.
Barton remains on the road to take on Chowan in its Conference Carolinas opener on Wednesday starting at 7:30 p.m., in Murfreesboro, N.C.
USC Aiken, meanwhile, hosts Clayton State in the Peach Belt Conference opener on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
