WILSON, N.C. – The Barton softball team (19-19, 7-11) swept Southern Wesleyan (24-12, 11-7) in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader, 9-5 and 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Jeffries Field.
Game One – Barton 9, Southern Wesleyan 4
Barton senior designated player 
Gracelyn Massey (Princeton, N.C.) hit a two-run home run in the first inning and finished with four runs batted in while junior outfielder 
Makenzie Cyzick (Dayton, Va.) scored four times to lead the Bulldogs to the win.
Southern Wesleyan lost despite a grand slam in the third frame courtesy of Rebecca Lamb (Locust Grove, Ga.). 
 
Barton sophomore 
Ali Bunch (Wilmington, N.C.) improved to 2-1 on the year after coming on in relief and earning the win.  Bunch struck out six batters while Southern Wesleyan's Emily Collins (Fredericksburg, Va.) fell to 8-3 after suffering the setback.
Game Two – Barton 3, Southern Wesleyan 0
Barton freshman 
Emily Bobo (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) (3-3) threw a one-hitter for her second shutout of the year to go along with 12 strikeouts as the Bulldogs completed the sweep of the Warriors.
Massey led the home team offensively with a pair of hits and an RBI while Chloe Smith (Villa Rica, Calif.) (5-4) took the loss.
Barton has a short turnaround and will travel to Augusta, Ga., to take on Augusta in a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Southern Wesleyan hosts Erskine Tuesday in a league doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m.
