Barton men’s lacrosse advances in the conference championship with a dominant win over Emmanuel, 22-8

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (5-9) easily beat Emmanuel (8-7) in the Quarterfinal Round of the 2025 Conference Carolinas Championship, 22-8, Wednesday morning at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.

The Bulldogs, the fourth seed in the tournament, will take on top-seeded North Greenville (10-5) in the semifinals on Friday beginning on 11:00 a.m., at the Ray McDonald, Sr., Sports Complex on the campus of the University of Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C.  The Lions were the fifth seed in the championship.

Barton junior midfielder Zander Grimes (Christiansburg, Va.) finished with a team-high four goals while a trio of Bulldogs – senior attacker Nic Lord (Wilmington, N.C.), sophomore attacker Nick Pomilio (Raleigh, N.C.) and freshman midfielder Jake Ellerson (Holly Springs, N.C.) – all scored three times as the Bulldogs defeated the Lions for the second time this year.

Barton, who totaled 43 goals in two victories over Emmanuel, jumped out to a 7-0 lead early in the second period and never looked back.  Barton held significant advantages in both shots taken (60-23) and ground balls (47-18) in the triumph.

Barton senior goalkeeper Nate Lehr (Chenango Bridge, N.Y.) earned the victory after stopping five Lions' shots.

Emmanuel led by Jared Weiss (Rockledge, Fla.) with three goals but Nick Pilon (Ontario, CANADA) suffered the loss in goal despite 16 saves on the day.
