BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Barton softball team (23-21, 9-13) swept a Conference Carolinas doubleheader from King (26-20, 13-9), 6-1 and 5-2, Sunday afternoon at Tornado Field.
Game One – Barton 6, King 1
With the scored tied at one-all, the Bulldogs broke the contest open with a five-run second inning highlighted by a two-run double from sophomore outfielder
Ali Bunch (Wilmington, N.C.) in the victory.

Ronnetta Gurley (Cove City, N.C.) added two RBI while senior
Kierstin Cooper (Nashville, N.C.) (11-11) earned the complete game victory after allowing just one run while striking out nine batters.
For King, Tori Ryan (Bristol, Tenn.) finished with a pair of hits and drove in a run but Savana Luper (Salem, Va.) (10-7) took the setback.
Game Two – Barton 5, King 2

Elana Griffin (Nashville, N.C.) broke a 1-1 tie with the game-winning, bases-clearing double in the third inning while Bunch added another RBI and went four-for-four on the day as the Bulldogs completed the sweep of the Tornado.

Emily Bobo (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) improved to 5-4 on the season after going the distance and striking out eight batters.
King's Alyssa Suits (Jonesborough, Tenn.) hit a home run for the home team while Kaylee Meeks (Lowell, Ind.) (3-5) suffered the loss.
Barton hosts Chowan in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m., in the regular season finale while King hosts Lees-McRae in a doubleheader on Wednesday starting at 1:00 p.m.
