TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Barton softball team (21-21, 7-13) suffered a doubleheader sweep to North Greenville (28-18, 14-10), 6-1 and 5-0, Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action at Jan McDonald Stadium.
Game One – North Greenville 6, Barton 1
Three Trailblazers – Ali Hartin (Travelers Rest, S.C.), Virginia Bishop (Simpsonville, S.C.) and Maddie Stone (Williamston, S.C.) – all hit home runs to lead North Greenville to the win.
North Greenville's Sydney Clark (Browns Summit, N.C.) (6-3) earned the complete game victory after allowing just one run while striking out a pair of batters.
For Barton, junior outfielder
Makenzie Cyzick (Dayton, Va.) drove in a run but senior
Kierstin Cooper (Nashville, N.C.) fell to 10-11 after taking the loss.
Game Two – North Greenville 5, Barton 0
Stone and Hartin each hit another home run while Emily Dawson (St. Stephen, S.C.) added a solo round-tripper as the Trailblazers completed the doubleheader sweep.
North Greenville's Kylie Rast (Beaufort, S.C.) improved to 12-3 on the season after throwing a two-hit shutout while striking out six batters. Barton's
Emily Bobo (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) (2-3) was tagged with the loss.
Barton travels to Bristol, Tenn., to take on King in a doubleheader on Sunday starting at 1:00 p.m., in a conference doubleheader while North Greenville hosts Tusculum in a doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
