WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (7-8, 4-1) fell to Lees-McRae (11-4, 5-0) on Senior Day in a battle of first-place Conference Carolinas squads Saturday afternoon at the Michalak Tennis Complex.
The Bulldogs did earn victories at second and sixth singles courtesy of senior
Silvia Fernandez-Trabadelo (Matero, SPAIN) and sophomore
Claudia Zaratiegui Marquez (Montcada i Reixac, SPAIN).
Fernandez-Trabadelo defeated Miranda Noor (Caracas, VENEZUELA) by a score of 6-4, 6-4 while Zaratiegui Marquez won over the Bobcats' Caroline Brothers (New Braunfels, TEXAS), 6-4 and 6-1. Fernandez-Trabadelo has won five straight matches in singles' competition.
Barton remains at home to host North Greenville next Saturday, April 5, at 11:00 a.m., in a conference contest while Lees-McRae hosts Francis Marion next Friday in a league match starting at 1:00 p.m.
