WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (8-8, 5-1) stayed in the thick of the Conference Carolinas regular season race with a 5-2 triumph over North Greenville (4-15, 1-6) Saturday morning at the Michalak Tennis Complex.
Barton was led by junior
Irma Granstam (Linkoping, SWEDEN), who won at first doubles and fourth singles in the triumph.
In addition, Barton senior
Silvia Fernandez-Trabadelo (Mataro, SPAIN) earned her seventh straight win at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over North Greenville's Martina Cairus (Montevideo, URUGUAY).
Barton faces rival Mount Olive in a league match on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m., in Mount Olive, N.C., while North Greenville takes on Converse next Saturday, April 12, at 1:30 p.m., in Spartanburg, S.C.
