MAXTON, N.C. – The Barton softball team (17-19, 5-11) split a Conference Carolinas doubleheader with UNC Pembroke (18-21, 9-5) Saturday afternoon at Purnell Sweet High School. The Braves shut out the Bulldogs in the first contes by a 2-0 score while Barton run-ruled UNC Pembroke in the second contest, 10-2, in six innings of work.
Game One – UNC Pembroke 2, Barton 0
The Braves' Summer Bullard (Pembroke, N.C.) (7-6) threw a no-hitter while striking out seven batters and the Braves scored both runs in the bottom of the second inning in the victory.
UNC Pembroke's Alona Hanna (Lumberton, N.C.) and Tiara Stueck (Lumberton, N.C.) both drove in runs while freshman
Ronnetta Gurley (Cove City, N.C.) (3-2) suffered the loss for Barton.
Game Two – Barton 10, UNC Pembroke 2 (six innings)
The Bulldogs rebounded in a big way to run-rule the Braves and snap a five-game losing streak. Barton senior designated player
Gracelyn Massey (Princeton, N.C.) went four-for-four with three runs batted in to lead the visitors.

Makenzie Cyzick (Dayton, Va.) both hit two-run doubles in a four-run fifth inning while freshman
Emily Bobo (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) (2-3) was credited with the win. Bobo allowed just one earned run while striking out five batters in the complete game victory.
UNC Pembroke's Katie Neel (Anderson Creek, N.C.) fell to 1-5 with the setback. Hanna had an RBI double for the Braves in the loss.
Barton returns home to host Southern Wesleyan on Saturday beginning at Noon in a league doubleheader while UNC Pembroke travels to Bristol, Tenn., on Friday, April 4, to face King starting at 1:00 p.m.
