CENTRAL, S.C. – The Barton baseball team (21-11, 13-6) opened a Conference Carolinas weekend series on the road Friday evening with a 12-4 triumph over Southern Wesleyan (7-26, 6-13) at Dr. C. Keith Connor Field.

Evan Harding (Clayton, N.C.) finished with three hits and three runs batted in as the Bulldogs used a six-run sixth inning to break the contest open.
Harding added a two-run double in the seventh inning as Barton jumped out to a 12-0 advantage before the Warriors were able to plate a run. Southern Wesleyan scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth to avoid the shutout.

A.J. Campbell (Absecon, N.J.) improved to 5-2 on the year after holding Erskine scoreless over six innings while scattering four hits and striking out six batters. Barton junior third baseman
Yariel Diaz (Fort Myers, Fla.) added three hits and a pair of RBI in the triumph.
For Southern Wesleyan, Gavin Mitchell (Summerville, S.C.) finished with two hits and drove in a run but Jaylen Morgan (Dacula, Ga.) (0-5) suffered the setback.
The two teams wrap up the league weekend series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
