Barton baseball rolls to a 22-0 home victory over Kutztown (Pennsylvania)

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (17-10) notched a season-high in runs scored with an overwhelming 22-0 win over Kutztown (Pa.) (6-11) Tuesday afternoon at Nixon Field.

Barton senior first baseman Chase Waddell (Lucama, N.C.) hit a grand slam in the fourth inning and junior designated hitter Caleb Holland (Fayetteville, N.C.) drove in five runs as the Bulldogs ran their winning streak to three games.

Barton scored 13 runs over the sixth and seventh innings to turn the contest into a total rout while the Bulldogs limited the Golden Bears to just three hits in the shutout victory.

The Bulldogs scored their most runs since a 25-6 triumph on March 9, 2021, against Virginia State at home.

Five pitchers combined for the shutout for Barton while junior Joe Rauscher (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) (1-3) picked up his first win of the year.  Kutztown's Tyler Cleveland (Pillow, Pa.) (0-1) took the loss.

Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Friday when the Bulldogs host Shorter on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., while Kutztown faces Chowan on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., in Murfreesboro, N.C.
