WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis team, ranked No. 40 in NCAA Division II, picked up its fourth straight win with a 7-0 shutout win over West Virginia State Sunday morning at the Michalak Tennis Complex.
A quartet of Bulldogs – junior
Felipe Mioch (Diemen, NETHERLANDS), freshman
Daniel Lopez (Palma De Mallorca, SPAIN) and seniors
Hannes Tylehed (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and
Johan Holgersson (Bromma, SWEDEN) – all won at singles and doubles play to lead the Bulldogs.
Holgersson extended his singles' winning streak to 10 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Franco Farias (Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA) at No. 4 singles.
In addition, Lopez and Mioch won their sixth consecutive match at second doubles with a 6-0 triumph over the Yellow Jackets' Johan Karlsson (Eskiltuna, SWEDEN) and Facundo Campana Urcia (Chimbote, PERU).
Barton remains at home to take on Francis Marion in a key Conference Carolinas contest on Tuesday, March 18, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
