WILSON, N.C. - The Barton men's tennis team (10-4, 2-0), ranked No. 40 in NCAA Division II, won its fifth straight match with a 5-2 victory over Francis Marion (4-4, 1-1) Tuesday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at the Michalak Tennis Complex.
The Bulldogs had four players - seniors
Hannes Tylehed (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and
Johan Holgersson (Bromma, SWEDEN), junior
Felipe Mioch (Diemen, NETHERLANDS) and freshman
Daniel Lopez (Palma De Mallorca, SPAIN) - prevail in singles and doubles' contests in the triumph.
Holgersson improved to 11-1 on the year in singles action after downing Rodrigo Cunha (Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL) at No. 4 singles, 6-1 and 6-1.
Mioch and Lopez (second doubles) also made it seven in a row as a duo with a victory over the Patriots' Harri Lloyd-Evans (Newport, South Wales, UNITED KINGDOM) and Austin Vienna (Huntingdale, Victoria, AUSTRALIA), 7-6 (7-2).
Barton hits the road to take on Belmont Abbey on Friday at 2:00 p.m., in a league contest in Belmont, N.C., while Francis Marion hosts Campbell on Saturday, March 22, at 2:00 p.m.
