MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Barton baseball team (4-4) made it three victories in a row with an 8-2 win over Florida Tech (3-4) Sunday afternoon at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field.
Barton senior shortstop
Luis Sauri (Buena, N.J.) continued his hot streak of late, finishing with three hits and three runs batted in as the Bulldogs won three of four games from the Panthers in the weekend series.
Sauri opened the scoring with a two-run double in the top of the fourth inning which proved to be the game-winning hit while senior third baseman
Yariel Diaz (Fort Myers, Fla.) added three hits and two RBI as Barton won its third straight contest.
Barton sophomore
Dante Onorato (Cinnaminson, N.J.) (1-0) allowed just one earned run while pitching over five innings of relief for the victory. For Florida Tech, Josh Beck (Lititz, Pa.) (0-1) suffered the loss.
The Panthers' Pedro Figueroa (Vero Beach, Fla.) and Anthony Fimiano (Plantation, Fla.) both drove in runs for the home team in the losing effort.
Barton hits the road to take on Coker on Wednesday, February 12, at 3:00 p.m., in Hartsville, S.C.
Barton then opens Conference Carolinas play this weekend when the Bulldogs host King in a doubleheader at Nixon Field beginning at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 15, while Florida Tech hosts Flagler Tuesday starting at 6:00 p.m.
