WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (11-12, 7-8) came up short to Emmanuel (9-13, 8-7), 68-58, Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at Shaw Athletic Center.
The Lions' Abby Crawford (Villa Rica, Calif.) led all scorers with 17 points as the home team won their second straight contest. Emmanuel led by as many as 17 points with 1:54 remaining in the third quarter on a lay-up by Crawford and remained in control the rest of the way despite a late rally by the Bulldogs.

Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) led the visitors with 14 points and freshman guard
Leah Hampton (Richmond, Va.) came off the bench to score 13 points while hitting three treys in the losing effort.
Walker moved into sixth place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,772 points.
The Bulldogs shot just 32 percent (22-of-69) from the floor in suffering their second straight loss. The Lions' Maddie Futch (Cleveland, Ga.) had 16 of the team's 38 rebounds to go along with six points in the victory.
Barton remains on the road to take on Lees-McRae in a league contest Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., in Banner Elk, N.C., while Emmanuel hosts Erskine Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
