WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (1-3) picked up its first win of the 2025 campaign with a 10-4 triumph over Lenoir-Rhyne (3-1) Tuesday afternoon in a non-league regional contest at Nixon Field.

A.J. Campbell (Absecon, N.J.) (1-0) earned the victory after throwing six shutout innings in addition to six strikeouts while graduate student outfielder
Jerry Guzman (Jersey City, N.J.) finished with three hits and two runs batted in as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 9-0 lead after four innings of play and cruised to the win.
Guzman opened the scoring with a two-run single in the first frame and senior catcher
Chase Waddell (Lucama, N.C.) and junior third baseman
Yariel Diaz (Fort Myers, Fla.) added two RBI each in the win.
Lenoir-Rhyne, which suffered its first loss of the year, scored on an RBI single by Alex Khan (Sykesville, Md.) in the seventh frame to help the visitors avoid the shutout. Preston Drebes (Creekmore, Tenn.) (0-1) was tagged with the loss.
The Barton baseball team travels to Melbourne, Fla., to open a four-game series against Florida Tech on Friday beginning at 6:00 p.m., while Lenoir-Rhyne faces Columbus State in Young Harris, Ga., on Friday, February 7, at 2:00 p.m.
