WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (15-13, 11-9) ended the regular season on a high note with a convincing win over Chowan (17-9, 14-6), 94-72, Wednesday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at Wilson Gymnasium.
Barton senior guard
Shawn Nelson (Miami, Fla.) tallied a triple-double – 26 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds – and senior guard
Jett Fortuny (Cary, N.C.) added 21 points while hitting five three-pointers as the Bulldogs shot 70 percent (19-of-27) in the second half to roll by the Hawks for the win.
The Bulldogs scored 52 after intermission and led by as many as 24 points on two occasions – 87-63 and 90-66 – and avenged an earlier regular season loss to the Hawks on the road in December.
Chowan put four players in double figures including 12 points from both Eric Gordan, Jr. (Alexandria, Va.) and Damerius Summers (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) despite the loss. The Hawks, however, shot just 60 percent (21-of-35) from the free throw line and were out-rebounded by a 46-26 margin in the contest.
Barton senior guard
Jordan Johnson (Bowie, Md.) finished with 18 points as well in the victory.

Chowan will be the third seed in the league tournament and will play in the quarterfinals on Friday, March 7, at 8:30 p.m., at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C.
